Quantifeed recently attended the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s City-Tech. Tokyo event, exhibiting at the two-day festival under the Fintech section. The conference drew a crowd of over 25,000 visitors from around the world, all of whom share an interest in learning about the latest innovations in urban sustainability.
City-Tech. Tokyo is part of Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s broader strategy to create a world-class startup ecosystem in Tokyo, which includes its ‘SusHi Tech Tokyo’ initiative. The event also featured distinguished speakers such as Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, venture capitalist Ben Horowitz, and Japanese business expert Professor Ulrike Schaede.
While the event was primarily geared towards showcasing cutting-edge technology, we noticed that many visitors gravitated towards booths focusing on themes relatable to the general public, such as ESG and lifestyle.
The key announcement from the event included Governor Yuriko Koike unveiling the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s plan to spend $1 billion USD over the next five years to support startups in Tokyo. We are very excited to see how the initiative will pan out over the next few years, given our commitment to the Japanese market.
The event provided Quantifeed Japan with a valuable opportunity to connect with Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials and local financial institutions. We also enjoyed workshopping ideas with other startups in different industries, which we are hoping will set the stage for future partnerships.
Overall, the event was a tremendous success and demonstrated Tokyo’s commitment to creating a vibrant and dynamic startup ecosystem. Quantifeed looks forward to building on the connections it made at City-Tech. Tokyo as we continue to expand our presence in Japan and beyond.
